“Convince me of Helsinki” – Day 3: By and on the water

Helsinki’s Southern coastline is also amongst my favourite places to be. I love sitting on the rocks or at that little beach and soak up some sun and listen to the waves. We lingered around there for quite a while before being on our way through Eira, Ullanlinna and Punavuori. Check out where we walked in this blog post.

After Seurasaari had left quite the impression on my guests, so there was more in order. Being out on the sea is also a favourite of things-to-do in the summer, as Helsinki is surrounded by a beautiful archipelago, and a short boat trip can quickly take you to the most stunning sights of it. We decided to go on the 2,5hours sunset cruise with IHA Lines. For 19€ you get the sightseeing trip, dinners can be bookes additionally but require prior reservation, for only the top deck trip you can just show up. Make sure to be there a bit ahead of the trip to catch your favourite seat. Unfortunately you’re not allowed to bring your own snacks or drinks (those were taken from us in quite a rude manner, I have to say), but you can purchase some at the ship’s bar.

The trip was fantastic. The sky was painted with clouds and the most wonderful colours, and time passed so quickly. In the beginning some of us weren’t sure if a 2,5hour trip wouldn’t be a bit boring with only cruising around, but it was – once again – spectacular.

On day 1 we did some of my Helsinki “basics” -on day 2 we went to feed birds and squirrels on Seurasaari! Take a look!
