Archipelago Trail – Cycle Trip Packing list

In late July I cycled the Archipelago Trail! You can read the full blog post on this very mindful trip here. Very brief and simple, here’s what I packed.

Bags

Brooks England Pannier bags 2x
Haglöfs Vide Medium 15L daypack

I used two packing cubes from this set – a small and a big one, as well as a small carry-on compatible pouch for cosmetics.

Packing List

Cosmetics & Miscellaneous

  • Toothbrush + Toothpaste
  • Moisturiser
  • Shampoo (conditioner)
  • Shower gel
  • Deo
  • Tangle teezer hair brush
  • Sunscreen SPF 50 for face and body
  • Chapstick with SPF
  • Tick/Mosquito repellant
  • Tick tweezers
  • Ibuprofen
  • Magnesium (for post-ride sore legs)
  • Bandaids

Little sleeping pouch

  • Sleeping mask
  • Earplugs
  • Lip balm

  • PJs or whatever you like to sleep in

Clothing

  • 2x padded cycling pants (short/long)
  • 1x workout tights for hiking
  • 1x hiking shorts
  • 1x black leisure leggings (I like these from COS – they are the most comfortable thing I own, it’s like wearing nothing)
  • 5x Tops/Shirts (for example my Lightwool Aklima shirt)
  • 1x Merino hoodie
  • Underwear including sports bra
  • Jelly sandals (similar) (I prefer those to regular flipflops, as they are secured on your ankle)
  • Macinasac (super lightweight packable rain jacket)
  • Buff Headband
  • Cycling gloves (instantaneously makes you super douchy, but they have a purpose)

Equipment

  • Camera (I took my Canon EOS M10) + Charger
  • Spare battery
  • Spare SD card
  • Powerbank
  • Wireless headphones
  • Powerplug
  • Lightning cable
  • Micro USB cable
  • Water bottle (+bottle mount for bike)
  • Bike mount for phone
  • Bike fixing kit

To Do

  • Download podcasts & audio books
  • Preload google maps
  • Accommodation list & restaurants (or prep accordingly if you want to cook yourself)
  • Check grocery stores on the way and what to pack (I took a pancake mix that just needed some milk added. Other ideas would be to bring spice mixes for cottage cooking etc.)
  • Get bike checked! (chains, brakes, tires, lights, screws etc. – all them basics)
